The Floyd Lewis Foundation recognizes that individuals in the past have provided leadership and endless hours of time to improve Coffey County. These individuals were the pillars of their community. They were typically patriotic, compassionate, and supported community efforts, thereby reinforcing the mission of the Floyd Lewis Foundation.
The Floyd Lewis Foundation will recognize an individual(s) annually through the Legacy Award. The criteria used during the nomination and selection process, in total or in part, will be based on the accomplishments of the individual(s) during their lifetime.
Criteria such as the following will be considered:
- Actively involved in the community and encourages the involvement of others
- Support, promote, and enhance the community and its activities
- Show a patriotic spirit
- Have compassion for others
- Support education
- Leadership in clubs, boards, and organizations
- Volunteer unselfishly
Floyd Lewis Foundation Boards members will nominate the Legacy Award individual(s) at the April meeting. A majority vote by the Board will select the individual(s) and the winner will be announced at the Floyd Lewis Golf Tournament in June.
